MONAHOLLER is the pop project of Mona Hollerweger and Gajus Stappen. The duo composes pop songs with English, German, and Upper Austrian lyrics—sometimes all mixed up in one song—and turns them into music videos and live performances. GREEN POP: The main topics are climate and environment, in other words:
Pop music that saves the world!
MONA HOLLERWEGER has been a performance artist in Vienna for over 20 years. She writes lyrics, composes, dances, and sings. Her performances to date have primarily been in the visual arts context. Before that, she was
a psychologist who focused primarily on the relationship between humans and their own bodies: Disregard for the planet reflects disregard for one's own body. The fact that she is launching a pop project at the age of 57 is unconventional. However, unconventionality is one of her strengths.
GAJUS STAPPEN is an experienced live and studio guitarist, composer, producer, video and photo artist, as well as bandleader of the international Celtic rock band CELTICA. He has worked with artists such as Jennifer Rush, Maurice Gibb, Ace of Base, and Dolezal/Rossacher. With MONAHOLLER, I'm getting closer to the total work of art I've long sought.
